Correcting ActiveX Problems

Most people with a PC regularly use the internet for a variety of functions.  In doing so they invariably utilize – albeit unwittingly – software components called ActiveX Controls.  These are advanced browser software extensions that perform privileged functions that are either involved with installed applications or on websites.  For most of their occurrence, ActiveX Controls are used to install real time added functionality – like toolbars, video streaming or chat boxes.    Because they are privileged, they bypass much of the Operating System security that is connected to your browser.  Therefore, they can be dangerous to your system.  Therefore most default security settings on browsers prevent their execution without adjustment or specific authorization by the user.

When the number of ActiveX components that are executed increases dramatically they impact code keys on your system registry and can seriously impact your PC performance.  When this occurs and when they are flawed, faulty or redundant they need to be repaired or deleted and reinstalled.  This is a very technical process and it is something beyond the capability of most people.   Therefore, you will need to take specific steps to accomplish this.

The most immediate correction to the problem is to reduce your security setting on Internet Explorer and it will replace or rewrite the Control that is missing the next time the Control is needed in executing website or other online functions.  This should not be attempted if there are other error codes displayed or the source or site is one that is unfamiliar to you, since there are serious security concerns associated with reduced security setting on IE.

The best way to repair your ActiveX Control status is to perform a complete Windows System Registry Maintenance Update.  In the process any flawed or invalid ActiveX Controls will be automatically deleted and replaced.   The Windows System Registry is the file that contains all the priorities and settings – called code keys – that Windows uses to run your applications.   This is the master database that Windows uses to determine both priorities and parameters needed to run applications the way they are installed.   When the registry becomes bloated with code keys and other records that are redundant or conflicting – when multiple versions of an application are installed – it affects the speed of your PC.

To correct these as well as repair ActiveX Controls you should use a registry maintenance program available via download on the net.  You can get a good registry software package that does all these functions automatically and you will not have to select what needs to be deleted or replaced.  They also do other registry fix functions that accomplish the needed Registry Repair.
