If you think eBay might be a good place to make extra money, then you're right. With 157 million consumers and 100,000 new users Every day, eBay is a very promising market. This is an excellent place for potential sellers of all experience levels to quickly and with little costs of moving. The user-friendly environment makes it an ideal place for the budding entrepreneur to learn the ropes while by taking very little financial risk.

This article will provide you with advice and warnings of potential pitfalls that will help you set up your account seller on eBay. By following these guidelines will establish a solid foundation for long-term success of your proposed new eBay.

The creation of your Seller Account

There are two important things you should consider before creating your eBay seller account. The first is what the email you use, and the second is what will be your User ID.

You should avoid using an e-mail for your free account if possible. The best solution is to use an e-mail on your own domain, the second best solution is one from your ISP (ISP) and the final and lest favorable solution is to use a free email address like Hotmail, Yahoo Mail or Gmail. I recommend using separate addresses electronics on the same domain to your eBay account and PayPal (PayPal we discuss later). This will help you keep your bids and Communication separate payment.

You should carefully consider your user name before registering with eBay. You will want your own brand in a way that your customers remember and recognize you. Your eBay user name is an important process of branding. You are free to change your nickname later, however this is not recommended if you can avoid it. Changing your User ID may lead to your customers not able to find later your bids.

When you choose your brand name or ID, you should think about what you sell and what image you want to present to your customers. If you already have another business that your company will connect to eBay, you will want your eBay User ID to reflect that. In this case, your identity card would probably be the name of your existing business or a shortened version of it.

If you sell first Collectibles, your eBay user name should reflect in some way. If your focus is cheap goods in general then your ID should focus cheap (my first eBay username is 99_cent_guy, and all of my auctions began to 99 cents). If you go to specialize in college textbooks, then your ID should indicate that in some way. Ensure that your user ID is what you sell will help greatly to ensure that current and potential customers are able to find you when they want to buy what you sell.

The use of website addresses (URLs) and e-mail in the eBay user ID is prohibited. I personally found a way to circumvent this problem by using an asterisk before and after the URL (* www.yourwebsitehere.com *) However, it could result in requiring a change to eBay user ID.
